We have decided to keep the bulk of this software not only Free as in speech, but also as in beer, providing a well-featured Akeeba Backup Core for free. We want everybody to be able to use it unrestricted. However, we also have to make a living. Unlike software, mundane things such as food, clothing and a roof over our heads aren't free. Donations and income from the subscription-based professional services provide us with the financial means to support our development efforts.
