Re: Czech translation

Well, JoomlaPack has helped me flawlessly migrate so it's been my pleasure to do it.

I have just one question on Kickstart:
Its script comes zipped together with the language files. Since it is not installable, users are supposed to upload the script to the Joomla root prior to its execution. Where should be the language files saved? On the front-end together with the other components' languages? If so, it might be useful to add the Kickstart language file to the JoomlaPack language installer, as that is not such a load (it "weights" only 4 kB or so) even for people who do not plan to use it (though the majority would, I think wink

Please check with the attached file. com_joomlapack_2_4_1_b_cs_CZ.zip

Re: Czech translation

The Kickstart translation INI files are supposed to be stored in the same directory as kickstart.php itself. Since Kickstart isn't Joomla! specific - I've used it to install Wordpress among other things - there was no point doing otherwise smile

The reason I don't want to include the translations with the PHP file is two fold:
a. It makes the file unnecessarily large (up to 75% bigger!)
b. The INI files have to be converted to PHP arrays. This is a major drawback concerning the administrative overhead involved (creating custom script to do that, name them properly, include them in the file build process...). Moreover, there are many users who just prefer to use English instead of their native language. I know of at least one: myself smile

Re: Czech translation

Oh, I see. I do know Kickstart is a stand-alone application not depending on Joomla itself. I was just confused as the name of the language files strongly suggest the files themselves to be added to the component language folder... wink

And - to be honest - I also fall in the group of users preferring English to run Joomla, etc. Just wanted to see how Joomla looks when my mother tongue is used (there are not so many Czech translations for its extensions) a as and also wanted to contribute - some people do might find the added language useful.

Re: Czech translation

The name of the language file is actually the easiest way for Kickstart to find them. The browser passes a list of preferred locales (e.g. en-GB, el-GR, etc) to the script, so I can test which file is present and load it in just two steps smile

Thank you for submitting the translation files!

Re: Czech translation

I see. What if there are more language options available for Kickstart in one Joomla installation? The users then could select one of them from a menu then...

Please take my remarks just as a hint. I am very happy with the English version of your great Joomla component.

Re: Czech translation

Kickstart is meant to be stand-alone. It doesn't require Joomla! because, um, it is mostly used to kick-start a Joomla! site installation smile

If you want to select a language for Kickstart:
a. Upload kickstart.php and ONLY the INI file for the language you want to use
b. Make sure your browser is set with that language as the default to request from the web server. On Firefox it's Tools -> Options, Content tab, click the Choose... (last button) and modify the language list so that your preferred is on top.

As a bonus, if you use a localized version of your OS and a localized browser, your local language is automatically set as the default. If you upload kickstart.php and all of the INI files, your language will automagically load.
