The 3.0.a5 version published earlier today had a bug in the Database Tables filter. Please download the fixed version. We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of Akeeba Backup Core 3.0.a5 and Akeeba Backup Professional 3.0.a5. This version addresses operational bugs on both editions and introduces DropBox support for the Professional edition. Most importantly it addresses a bug regarding the backup of database tables with non-ASCII data. If you have installed 3.0.a4 and use non-ASCII (international) characters you must upgrade immediately. You can download Akeeba Backup Core for free in our download section. If you are not an English speaker, you may want to take a look at the translations as well. If you get stuck, you're welcome to post to our Free Support Forum (a free user registration is, of course, required to post to the forum).Have you seen our documentation yet? If not, take the time to read it on-line, or download the documentation ZIP archive which contains a high-quality PDF file for off-line viewing or printing. Please, save trees; do not print the User's Guide. If you are a subscriber to the Akeeba Backup Professional edition, you can download the update through the My Downloads section after logging in. If you are not a subscriber yet, you may want to find out more about it and become one. This way you'll also be helping us raise the necessary funds to continue the development of this software.
Changelog
This is the short list of changes since Akeeba Backup 3.0.a4:
Bug fixes
- Icon layout incompatibilities with the AdminPraise (1/2/Lite) administrator themes
- Backup comment was not being saved
- Missing log image in the backup error pane
- Warning thrown in Administer Backup Files page if there are no valid backups found
- Failed backups would appear as "obsolete" in the Administer Backup Files page
- ABI: tmp and cache paths were calculated relative to installation directory (mostly a cosmetic issue)
- ABI: Some hosts forcibly put their analytics scripts right after ABI's XML AJAX response, screwing up the restoration procedure
- ABI: Some hosts return an empty string instead of an absolute as the value of the __FILE__ magic variable
- Important! Database tables collation wouldn't be dumped since Joomla! 1.5.x automatically reverted the database connection to MySQL 4 compatibility mode despite the compatibility setting in Akeeba Backup's configuration
New or updated features
- Nested AJAX calls could cause browser crash on very big backup jobs; a new AJAX method is now in place
- Ability to change your backup profile in the Backup Now page
- "Exclude non-core tables" option in DB tables filter page
- "Reset filters" option in DB tables filter page
- "Reset filters" option in files and directories filter page
- DropBox support (Professional edition only)
- Japanese translation for the component
- Japanese translation for ABI
