2.4.1 bug-fix release

JoomlaPack Developers is pleased to announce the immediate availability of the 2.4.1 bug-fix release of our accredited Joomla! site backup component. This release fixes some minor - but irritating - bugs in the component itself, the JPI4 installer and the Kickstart helper script. You can always download it following the links on our Downloads page. If you have any problems, suggestions, wishes or simply wish to contact the team members, you drop us a line on our support forum.

If you find this software useful, please consider donating a small amount using the donation buttons found throughout this site and on the component's Control Panel page. This gives us the incentive to keep on coding great software and keeping it Free, both as in speech and as in beer!

We need your help

Help us help you, by submitting cool new ideas in our support forum. There is a dedicated section for feature requests. Ask for anything, even if you think it's nonsensical, ridiculous or not very useful. Remember that three years ago a reliable Joomla! backup solution written entirely in PHP, without requiring exec() privileges and able to work on slow servers was ludicrous. Then, JoomlaPack happened. Throw ideas around. We hear you and we try to implement them. You power Open Source, you power JoomlaPack!

Change log

This is a short list of changes over the 2.4.1 stable release.

Bug fixes

JoomlaPack Installer 4 (JPI4):
  • Typo in includes/configuration.php wouldn't allow fixing Windows paths and threw warnings (cosmetic bug, didn't cause any problems)
  • An empty $livesite key was created in your configuration.php file (cosmetic bug, didn't cause any problems)
  • JPI4 would fail restoring the database if special (non alphanumeric) characters were used in the username or password
  • JPI4 would fail validating FTP settings if special (non alphanumeric) characters were used in the username or password
JoomlaPack component:
  • Front-end backup was always GMT. We now use the Global Configuration's server time zone to have "correct" time shown
  • CRON Scripts Manager would not display available CRON helper scripts if the view limits were NULL instead of 0
  • CRON helper scripts would not email the backup file as attachment correctly
  • Workaround for buggy PHP hosts which produce inverted CRC32 of files, causing seemingly corrupt ZIP files
  • Workaround for servers using environment variables on open_basedir restrictions
  • Files would download as C__some_ugly_folder_filename.jpa on Windows servers when clicking the d/l button
Kickstart:
  • Kickstart would fail in FTP mode if special (non alphanumeric) characters were used in the username or password
  • Kickstart would not enforce UTF-8 encoding on its pages, despite the translation files being UTF-8 encoded, causing strange characters to appear. Whoops!

Miscellaneous

  • Added Ukrainian translation
  • Updated Russian, German, Norwegian and Spanish translations
