Bugfix: WordPress restoration broken. Restoring WordPress sites was broken in the last release due to an extra file with the wrong length being present in the restoration script.
Official ClassicPress support. We are excited to announce that Akeeba Backup for WordPress and Akeeba Solo now officially support ClassicPress, the popular WordPress fork with a business focus, without Gutenberg. ClassicPress sites are backed up and restored the same as WordPress sites.
Dark Mode. We have included a dark theme in Akeeba Solo and Akeeba Backup for WordPress. Dark Mode is optional. The default is the regular, light theme. If you want to enable Dark Mode, please go to System Configuration. Upon saving you should join the Dark Side... um... get a dark themed Akeeba Solo / Akeeba Backup.
We only officially support using our software with the latest WordPress 5.x, the older WordPress 4.9 and the current ClassicPress 1.0 release branches. We strongly advise you to run the latest available version of WordPress/ClassicPress for security reasons. Older versions have known security issues which are being actively exploited to hack sites.
Our software should still run on WordPress 3.8 to 4.8 inclusive. However, we do not test with these versions and we no longer treat breaking support for these obsolete versions of WordPress as a bug.
We only officially support using our software with PHP 5.6, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2 or 7.3. We strongly advise you to run the latest available version of PHP on a branch currently maintained by the PHP project for security reasons. Older versions of PHP have known major security issues which are being actively exploited to hack sites and they have stopped receiving security updates, leaving you exposed to these issues.
Our software should still run on PHP 5.4 and 5.5. However, we do not test with these versions and we no longer treat breaking support for these obsolete PHP versions of PHP as a bug.
HEADS UP! We will completely remove support for older PHP versions in the coming months.
