Custom backup timezone. The time and date in the backup filename and emails will be expressed in the timezone you select. If none is selected, Akeeba Backup / Akeeba Solo will fall back to the Server Timezone selected in the System Configuration or, if that is not set, GMT. Furthermore, more backup archive naming variables were added for the timezone. Finally, the default backup archive name in new installations will include the timezone in the file name by default.
Display the Secret Word unencrypted in the component's System Configuration page. In the previous version we started storing the Secret Word encrypted. The downside was that you would only see the encrypted version in the System Configuration page which made it difficult to set up backups with third party services (like Watchful.li) or other software (like Akeeba Remote CLI). In this version we are displaying the Secret Word unencrypted for your convenience.
Easier timezone selection. You can now start typing a few letters of the timezone and the drop-down will show you the timezones that match.
Warning for HHVM. HHVM is an alternative runtime for PHP which is faster than PHP 5 but had some very important compatibility issues. We strongly advise you using PHP 7 which is both faster and, by its nature, much more compatible than HHVM.
Bug fixes. We fixed several issues, the two most important ones having to do with Akeeba Solo installations and restoring backups using the integrated restoration.
A bug in the updater in version 2.1.0.b1 through 2.1.2 makes it impossible to update to the new version using the built-in updater. You will have to do that manually.
Heads up! You must NOT uninstall Akeeba Solo before the update. Doing so may result in loss of your backup settings and / or your backup archives. Instead, here's what to do:
You will only need to do this once, upgrading to version 2.2.0 or later for the first time.
Due to changes in the packaging format and / or issues in the updater, you cannot update automatically from Akeeba Backup for WordPress versions 1.0 through 1.8.2 (inclusive) and versions 2.1.0.b1 through 2.1.2. You will have to do that manually.
Heads up! You must NOT uninstall or deactivate the plugin before the update. Doing so may result in loss of your backup settings and / or your backup archives. Instead, here's what to do:

Please note that the name of the folder on your site may be different than akeebabackupwp

or something similar. It depends on how
you installed the plugin.
You will only need to do this once, upgrading to version 2.2.0 or later for the first time.
Akeeba Solo and Akeeba Backup for WordPress are compatible with PHP 5.3.04 and later versions, including 5.4, 5.5, 5.6 and the newest versions of PHP, 7.0 and 7.1. At the time of this writing PHP 7.2 has not reached a stable release. As such, we can not guarantee that our software will be compatible with the stable version of PHP 7.2
We'd like to remind you that this requirement refers only to our software. The sites which can be backed up by our software may not support all of the aforementioned PHP versions. Please check the requirements of your site's software before restoring it on a different host / server to avoid issues due to PHP version incompatibilities.
