Description of my issue:

I am looking for assistance in setting up automated back-ups. I have a limited cpanel with my hosting account, therefore I am unable to add the command line code as suggested. Do you know how I might automate my back-ups?

Also - how would I automatically delete old back-ups?

Matt,

My first suggestion would be to move to a more full featured host.

It is possible to trigger a backup from a local machine using the local CRON service or Scheduled Tasks for Windows users. This would mean that the local machine would have to be running when you wanted the task to be triggered.

Another option would be webcron.org, which is a commercial CRON servcie compatible with Akeeba Backup.

Further discussion on automating your backup can be found in the documentation here: https://www.akeebabackup.com/documentation/akeeba-backup-documentation/automating-your-backup.html.

You would delete old backups by enabling he quota options on the configuration screen of your backup. You can save a specific number of backups or allow your backups to occupy a specific amount of space.
