I'm currently developing a Joomla 2.5 site for a client. Their server has PHP 5.2 and they can't upgrade because they have a number of older sites which aren't PHP 5.3 compliant. This is why we are currently using Joomla 2.5 and the last versions of Akeeba Backup and Admin Tools that support PHP 5.2. I obviously want to prevent incompatible updates being applied accidentally for these components. Does Admin Tools check the current version of PHP before applying any updates? If not then by simply not adding the Download ID can I prevent any updates being applied?

Removing the Download ID would prevent the extensions from being updated through the Live Update function. It would not prevent manual download and installation, but that seems less likely to occur.
