Hi ! I have been having problems with my webstes for some time now and I want to see if Admin Tools is the cause. So I went to know how to desactivate Admin Tools correctly.
I went to Plugin Manager and disabled the 'System - Admin Tools' plugin. so that part is OK.
But I just want to make sure if there are other things that I should do to disactivate all features of Admin Tools, such as the htaccess.admintools and .htaccess ? Should I delete those files and then use the htaccess.txt and change it to .htaccess. ?
Is there anything else should I do ?
Your help would be greatly appreciated !
Thanks !
Karine

You are correct, disabling the System - Admin Tools plugin will disable the Web Application Firewall portion of Admin Tools. The second half is the .htaccess file. The htaccess.admintools file is a backup of the .htaccess file for the last change made through .htaccess Maker. That backup file may not reverse all of the changes that Admin Tools made to the file if you have used .htaccess Maker multiple times. You can rename your current .htaccess file to htacces.AT then rename or copy htaccess.txt to .htaccess. That will restore Joomla!'s default .htaccess file to your system.

It is not necessary to delete the htaccess.AT file, it is inactive in that form. That will allow you to easily restore your current .htaccess file is you determine that it is not the cause of the problem.
