SiteGround had a webinar yesterday where they spoke of the SymLinksIfOwnerMatch option in the .htacces file. Is this something that should be added, or is it not important?

thanks

By default we disable FollowSymLinks. The SymLinksIfOwnerMatch option flag is sadly not supported on many hosts so we've not added support for it yet in Admin Tools. Do you need to add it? Most likely not. Joomla! doesn't use symlinks. If you don't know what a symlink is or how to create one you should set the Follow Symlinks option in .htaccess Maker to No. Simply put, if you have to ask this question you shouldn't enable symlinks, either FollowSymLinks or SymLinksIfOwnerMatch.

Taking another look at the code, I can actually add this option very easily in the current implementation. So it's quite safe to assume that the next version of Admin Tools will give you that option. Realistically, you only need to enable it in a multi-site setup or when you have created symlinks for a valid reason (in which case you know why you need to enable symlinks and if they should be enabled in the entire site, or a specific directory).

Thanks Nicholas, I wanted to make sure that the option was disabled.
