This issue has plagued me from the get go, and I've given up trying to fix it myself.

Whenever there is a joomla update, or an Akeeba update (admin tools or backup), I get a constant stream of email notifications. At least 10-12 per minute until I install the update.

Anecdotally, one morning, I logged in to my email to find 341 notifications from akeeba admin tools that I had a joomla update.

I've performed no special configuration other than to turn update notifications on in akeeba. Everything else works perfectly... except for the "More than Enthusiastic" need to notify me that there is some update waiting. <smile> and by perfect, I mean absolutely perfect... (amazing job on this toolset.. truly)

This happens on Joomla 2.5.x and 3.2x installations on multiple ISPs, on shared servers and dedicated servers alike. There seems to be no correlation between the issue and the combination of modules and templates installed. I am stumped.

So, this is my cry for help,

BTW: I love these tools so much, I refuse to deploy a joomla site without them. Great job. Akeeba saves my bacon in one way or another at least once per week.

Many thanks, and warm regards.

This is a problem with the way Joomla! handles component parameters. Unfortunately I can do nothing to fix that. All I can do is remove the email plugins (and people will complain) or tell you to disable the email notification plugins (and people will complain). Or I can do nothing and people will complain. The only sane choice is to do nothing about it and let people complain about it anyway :(

I appreciate this answer, and your position. I have disabled the plugin, and am joining the "Not complaining about if" camp. <smile>

Many thanks to all that you do.

Hello David,

The next release will get rid of this plugin and Live Update. Finally, Joomla! added support for paid extensions' updates in the built-in extensions updater. I am now converting all our components to use that. This will hopefully make it easier for people to find and install updates to our software :)
