 Hello Nicolas,

I hope this message finds you well ( patrida ).

I have a site which at the moment its uploaded in a sub-directory of the main domain name ( not the root ). For example www.aaa.gr/newsite

it the .htaccess config its setup with www.aaa.gr/newsite and the root folder as newsite

In the firewall config i have WAF i have setup the Administrator secret URL parameter with 78784155 for example.

Now when i call the admin link of the website as www.aaa.gr/newsite/?78784155 the admin panel comes up and when i type the admin username and password, it refreshes the page and i have to re-enter the admin username and passowrd. Once it logs me in, it shows me that the admin is logged in twice.

Do you know if i need to do something about this in order to have it fixed ???

Thank you again for your Time !!!!!

Hello Alexander,

I think that's not related to Admin Tools, most likely it could be a cache or cookie issue.

However, let's make sure that the problem is indeed caused by Admin Tools. In order to do so, try the following:

1. Try setting the Error Reporting level in your Global Configuration to "None". Many errors are caused by harmless PHP Notices and Warnings being output to the browser, breaking anything which requires HTTP header manipulation such as Joomla!'s session management, AJAX calls and download systems.

2. Try to replicate the issue after disabling the "System - Admin Tools" plugin. If you can still replicate the issue, it is not caused by Admin Tools. Disabling that plugin means that Admin Tools code (including the Web Application Firewall) is not running on your site.

3. If you suspect an issue with the .htaccess file, replace its contents with the contents of the stock htaccess.txt file shipped with every version of Joomla!. If you are on GoDaddy please wait for 1-30 minutes for the changes to be effective. Then, retry loading the problem page. If you can still reproduce the error, then it is not caused by .htaccess Maker.

If doing any of the above resulted in the issue still occurring, it's not related with Admin Tools and we can't help you. If doing any of the above did stop the issue from occurring, we'll have to do some troubleshooting.

First go to Admin Tools, Web Application Firewall, Configure WAF. Make sure "Log security exceptions" is set to Yes; if it's not, set it to Yes and click on Save. Now try reproducing your issue. Immediately after that, please go to Admin Tools, Web Application Firewall, Security Exceptions Log. The latest log entry at the top should have the date and time of when the issue occurred. Please copy the Reason and Target URL here so that we can further help you.

If, however, you do not see a log entry, or the Date and/or IP address do not match your last access, this problem is not caused by Admin Tools' WAF. In this case, you will have to do some .htaccess troubleshooting. You may need to read the general .htaccess troubleshooting page, as well as the page on finding out necessary .htaccess exceptions.

Hello and thank you,

Well it must have had something to do with the htaccess file that i created via the admin tools console.

I will explain how my initial setup was as an example and i will describe what i did to make it finally work ok.

the domain is www.aaa.gr in the root of this domain i have an html file with an image that says that the site will be up very soon.

In the root i have an directory called newsite, and that is where the joomla website is installed for now ( just for some testing purposes ) and the configuration php had live site "http://www.aaa.gr/newsite".

Now in the admin tools htaccess section, down at the bottom i have www.aaa.gr/newsite and the root field filled in with newsite

What I finally did and the problem with the doulbe asking login was solved was :

I created a subdomain in my cpanel called newsite.
I changed the configuration.php livesite to "http://newsite.aaa.gr"

In admin tools / htaccess section down the bottom i changed the fields to newsite.aaa.gr and the root to /

and now its working fine.

Thank you for your time !!!!

Best Regards
