I built a directory for a subcontractor of the state of california using Sobi Pro 1.1.1.

The problem is that almost every time they create a new record or make edits on an existing record from the front end of the site, they receive a 403 error upon saving the record:

-------------------------------------------
403-Unauthorized Access Task: entry.save
Go to Home Page <Home Page>
-------------------------------------------

Clearly, my clients are annoyed because they waste a lot of time entering data when this error occurs, only to see it go away. I have investigated the issue on the Sobi forum and several other places, but so far I only encountered users that got the same message when trying to view a record, not save one.

I opened a ticket with SobiPro but I also decide to open one here in case this is a known issue that simply did not get any play in the forums or in the ticket system. The 403 error seems to me that it could be a user access issue. Of course, I realize that Akeeba tools may have nothing to do with it, but since everything works fine in the back end and admin tools does try to restrict access to the site, it is possible it could be creating this error.

Once again, this error shows only when trying to save a record, new or existing, after making changes.

Is there a way to deactivate all of akeeba tools (without deactivating it by renaming any file in the file system. I know how to do that. I don't want to expose the site for even a few minutes if I can help it).

I figure that with your knowledge of your tools you may be able to tell me what parts of the Akeeba tools may be interfering with the save command in Sobi and I could limit my actions to those parts you consider possible culprits.

If that's not possible, I understand. But if you could give me some guidance I'd be thrilled.

Thank you

There are two places that Admin Tools could have some effect. The first is the .htaccess file. The intermittent nature of the problem makes that seem unlikely, but you can restore the default Joomla! .htaccess file to eliminate the possibility.

The second place is the Web Application Firewall. You can disable that easily with the instructions here: https://www.akeebabackup.com/documentation/troubleshooter/atwafissues.html.

If the WAF is blocking access, it should be logged in your Security Exceptions log. That would contain the information necessary to set up an exception to allow the function to execute properly.
