#23709 500 Error once .htaccess file generated -- J3.4.4 fresh install

 Hello,

When I generate the .htaccess file, the website dies and gives a 500 error.

The website is a fresh development and it still hasn't been launched. It was started off on a fresh, J3.4.4 install.

Please note, when I use the Joomla .htaccess file, the website still dies, so it appears the problem is NOT related to Admintools.

Any feedback is appreciated.

The usual suspect in the stock Joomla! .htaccess file is the line
Options +FollowSymlinks
As it says in the file, you can comment that line out if it causes a 500 error.

The same line may be in the .htaccess Maker .htaccess file. Lately the new TRACE and TRACK settings towards the bottom of the setup screen have been throwing 500 errors on some servers.

Hello,

Thank you for the follow-up.

It was indeed the Trace and Track setting that caused the problem. I changed the setting to NO and now the Admintools generated .htaccess file works fine.

A general question: I uploaded the Admintools 3.6.4 to my website without checking any new info about the component -- I knew that older versions worked fine on my server.
Before deploying the newest version of your component, is there a particular place on your website that perhaps I should have checked for potential issues?

Tom,

I'm glad that fixed the .htaccess file.

There are Release Notes for each release on the Download page for that individual version. The notes can also be seen from the right side of the Control Panel screens, but I think you have to install that version before they show up there. The Downloads page is a little safer.
