I have tried to backup both Admin Tools and Akeeba Backup and get a 504 Gateway timeout.

I went thru past tickets, upgraded Joomla, etc, but can't seem to make this work.. which both have every other time in the past.

Not sure what changed on my end or on yours but perhaps you can help.

That doesn't make any sense. I'm going to assume you meant "update" instead of "backup" because that fits in with the rest of what you wrote.

The 504 indicates that one server got tired of waiting on the other. It could be that one of the servers is too busy or that there is a traffic jam on the internet between them, in either of those cases it will go away on its own.

It could be a bad link in the update notice. You can purge the two update notices in the Joomla! Installer, then find updates to get them back. If it is a stale link, that will fix it. That information is cached, so it will fix on its own too.

You can download the two updates from our Downloads page and just install them as if they were new. The Installer will detect that they are already there and update them, preserving your settings. Do not uninstall, that will cause you to lose your settings and possibly your stored backups.
