Hi, I am trying to get a solution to the issue mentioned in #25063 refer to server issue when using Creative Contact.

I have followed the steps in #25063 and also those that are on the Creative Contact forum; all to no avail.

The page is here:
http://tibooburra.com.au/contact.html

And the error/s returning are:
POST http://tibooburra.com.au/index.php?option=com_creativecontactform&view=creativemailer&format=raw 500 (Internal Server Error)
  • send @ creativelib.js:5
    b.extend.ajax @ creativelib.js:5
    (anonymous function) @ creativecontactform.js?version=4.0.0:567
    b.event.dispatch @ creativelib.js:3
    v.handle @ creativelib.js:3

I have even added the suggested item to WAF Exception and also included component it htaccess write.

Any clues as Simon at creative has asked me to chat to you.

edit ... Interestingly, the form used to work and I notice here http://outbackbeds.com.au/contact-us.html that it is also not working when it was pre update of Admin Tools.

Regards

Simon

Simon,

If you disable the System - Admin Tools plugin, do you still get the error?

Morning Dale,

Yes. In the interim I have been doing some testing and here is a testsite with AdminTools uninstalled, htaccess removed and sh404sef uninstalled.

http://staging2.reddirtstudio.net.au/index.php?option=com_creativecontactform&view=creativecontactform&form=33&Itemid=135

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (Invalid address: Tibooburra Hotel)

http://staging2.reddirtstudio.net.au/components/com_creativecontactform/sendmail.php

Now that tells me it is not AdminTools related. Am I right OR could there be a server 'cache' that is still using the old .htaccess file (I know GoDaddy takes a while for that - but I am not on GoDaddy)

dlb
I'm in tech support, caching is the bane of my existence. Clear you browser cache, if you're using the Joomla! cache, you can manually clear that (or turn it off). A host of caching methods are very popular with hosts these days. Generally you have to talk to the host's tech support to find out how to manually clear the host's cache. Or just wait a while and let it expire.

The 500 error really doesn't tell us anything interesting, it is a generic error message. You may find more information in your server error log. That is where the details on the 500 error show up.

I could imagine ...

Cache is cleared and and off.

I looked in the logs (cpanel) and nothing there relating to this error.

It is all very strange.

Quick question (I know you are busy).. I think the Creative Contact component uses sendmail... if I test sendmail from Joomla configuration section it wont send test. Returns an error. Is that a possible cause and not AdminTools like Creative contact is alluding.

Simon

There is definitely an email bug in Joomla! 3.5.1. It was supposed to be fixed quickly in 3.5.2, but my understanding is that will not happen and the fix will be in 3.6, whenever that will be available.

I did a Google search and looked at several forum discussions, some users have had success in using the 3.5.0 version of /libraries/joomla/mail/mail.php. I can't recommend mixing and matching parts of Joomla!.

If it was a Joomla! bug, I think Simon at Creative would know about it.

Thanks Dale, appreciate the information.

I have thrown it back to Creative to look at as it appears not to be Admin Tools and wil get them to take a look.

Meanwhile I will continue digging and if I find a solution I will let you know.

Thanks again.

Got it!

Your suggestion of email issues got me thinking...

The 500 error referred to (Invalid address: Tibooburra Hotel) and that is what is entered into the form details for the 'Email From' field when the form is sent.

That value somehow conflicts with the email settings in Joomla configuration. So leave the Creative Form field blank removes the conflict. This conflict has only been in the last week or so and I am guessing with the last Joomla update.

Thanks again Dale, appreciate the help!
