I can not save Akeeba Tool set up! I am waiting for 1/2 hour then log out, and it looks like it is being saved. It is confusing!

Updated PHP version to 5.6.

When I try to login again, and trying to enter the "one time" credentials, I am getting this message:
"Authorization Required

This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required."

Apparently it didn't save the password!

I have to install this on 8 websites and this happens all the time!

How should I handle this?

That feature is the /administrator folder password protection. You can disable it by deleting or renaming the .htaccess file in the /administrator folder - NOT the root folder.

Not all servers support this feature, but I would expect to see a 500 error if your server did not. It is sensitive to Apache server version. If your server reports the wrong version, it could be set up wrong. For the same reason, it does not travel well between servers, so if you restore on a new server you may need to regenerate the user and password.

I would recommend deleting /administrator/.htaccess and regenerating it from the Password-protect Administrator option in Admin Tools.

Okay, It didn't work regenerating it from the Password-protect Administrator option in Admin Tools.

So I guess it is something with the server!?

Thanks!!!

Can you please try it again using only 0-9, a-z and A-Z in your password?
