Nicholas,

I am running the latest AT Pro. I was constantly getting visited by the TangaBot and it was using so much bandwidth that any time it was on my site, it would cause issues. It was crawling every single page of my site every time it visited, sometimes numerous times per day. I added their IP address to my blacklist and for a while, it kept it away. Now it is back again.

The IP address in question is 108.59.0.107 Sometimes it uses 108.59.0.105. I added 108.59.0.107 to the blacklist and it started using 108.59.0.105 so I then went in and added 108.59.0. and just this evening was visited again from 108.59.0.107.

What may I be doing wrong? I would like to block any of their ip addresses. Should I not use 108.59.0. ? for some reason?

I just checked and I do have "disallow site access to IPs in blacklist" set to yes.

OK, I may have discovered the problem. I have the following in my IP blacklist:

108.59.0 (notice, no . at the end)
108.59.0.105

Today I was visited by 108.59.0.107. I assume that since I do not have the . at the end of 108.59.0 that it did not treat it as an implied range? If I add the . will that keep them out? What about using 108.59. to be sure? I really don't understand IP addresses so don't know what all the different positions indicate.

Thanks in advance for your help!

You have to use that final dot after the IP address to force an implied range, e.g.
108.59.0.
to block all IPs from 108.59.0.0 to 108.59.0.255. However, this sounds a bit too broad, as this IP block belongs to LeaseWeb, a company which offers hosting services. Maybe you want to try a less aggressive range, like
108.59.0.105-108.59.0.107
to block the known IPs of that particular bot. If you see more IPs being used by it, expand the range.
