 I installed admin tools pro last night, ran the wizard, left everything on default, set up geo blocking to one country (Russia) on one site and 2 countries (Russia, Lithuania) on the other, and this morning I have been blocked, I'm the creator and admin of both sites, and I'm from Australia.

Please help!

The message I get when I go to admin is that I'm a spammer, bad person etc.

Well, quit trying to hack the sites! :-)

You can disable Admin Tools via FTP or your host's file manager with the instructions here: https://www.akeebabackup.com/documentation/troubleshooter/atwafissues.html.

Once you are back in, go to Admin Tools and you should see a red button to unblock your IP address.

Now, this is probably caused by the Secret URL parameter. Go to Web Application Firewall, Configure WAF, on the first tab, note the value in the Secret URL Parameter field. If it is not blank, you have to call the administrator login page with the URL
www.mysite.com/adminiistrator/index.php?secret
Where "secret" is the contents of that field. If the bad guys can't find your login screen, they are going to have a tough time trying to log in.

Thanks Dale. I'm back in now. What's the best way to prevent this from continually happening? My IP address is not static.

Scott,

If it continues to happen, something is wrong. I was guessing on the Secret URL Parameter, the cause of you getting blocked could be something else. You would need to check the Security Exceptions Log in Web Application Firewall to see the cause. Let me know what the exception is and we'll beat it into submission. The white list and "never block" settings do not work well with dynamic URLs.
