Hi - I have a problem with the site www.financingfirst.co.uk.

At some point I must have changed some settings in admin tools which is preventing access to to files such as sitemap.xml.

I can fix this by adding a line to .htaccess: RewriteRule ^sitemap.xml$ - [L]

However, there are a large number of directories for online calculators to which I need to allow access, but which are no longer available. An example of one of these is Calculator-01-standard.

I don't think I should need to add all these directories manually to .htaccess - they will all get overwritten eventually.

Everything was working fine up to a couple of days ago, but now is not working.

I have deleted the Admin Tools .htaccess file temporarily so the site can continue to work properly.

Is it possible for one of you guys to take a look at my settings to see what I have changed?

Thanks

Ian

Hi - sorry to have bothered you on this one, I've sorted it out. I was panicking earlier!

But tell me, I updated Admin Tools recently and I think it is since then that I discovered this problem. Has the security been ramped up in the latest version?

I solved it by adding the directories and files to the exception list, which I should have done in the first place.

Thanks for being there when I lost the plot!

The change was not in the most recent release but in the recent past. Any file outside of images or media will require an exception.

You need to set up the exception within .access Maker so it is saved between versions of the .access. Note that when you make an exception for a folder, the exception applies to all subfolders. But the bigger the exception, the bigger the security hole. So smaller is better from that standpoint.

Hi Dale - thanks for getting back to me - that explains everything!

I have done as you suggest, and added all files and directories within htaccess maker, and written a new file.

All is working well now :-)

Thanks again for your help...
