We continuously are getting this messages from Admin Tools which is great but this message had us puzzled. After this message we created some failed login attempts to see if they come through correct and they did. Do we have to be alarmed?

We also notice that normally we get the url of the website but in this message there is an ip address. Lookup does not work.

No reason to be alarmed.

Someone is trying to use an attack vector me and my co-developer Davide fixed in Joomla back in December 2015. It works by manipulating the IP address sent to the server to confuse Joomla's session handler and make it run arbitrary code which would dump the configuration of your site. Since we know it's definitely a malicious request we stop it on its tracks. Since it manipulates the IP address we can't provide an IP lookup. Even if we didn't your up-to-date Joomla version would be immune to it.

Thank you Nicholas. Sigh of relief on our side.
