HI,

I am using YOOtheme Pro to edit my site, in the backend, I can easily find my pictures with the media picker but in the frontend the media picker doesn't display any files the folder looks empty and the subfolders are not even visible.

If I disable the DFIShieldin the WAF settings, I can see the files.

Is it normal, is there a way to use DFIShield for the rest?

Is the DFIShield necessary?

Thanks for your help.

The DFIShield does something very simple: it blocks requests which contain an absolute path to an existing file. There is no reasonable and secure software design pattern which necessitates an absolute path to be included in a request to the server.

While you can disable DFIShield I do not recommend it. I would urge you to contact YooTheme and let them know that they are following an insecure practice which is a small typo away from opening a gaping security hole to your site. It's straightforward to fix.

FWIW they are not the first or the last ones to make that mistake. Absolute paths in requests and unvalidated user data ending up in queries are the two most common mistakes web developers do. Two weeks ago we discovered a similar issue for a different extension. We had our client report it back to the developer who promptly fixed it.
