Greetings,

I installed admin tools on this site
jobs610.com
Now I cannot get to the administrator page, it redirects me to the home page.
I removed the htaccess and password access from the admin as that worked in the past, not now.
Then I removed the htaccess from the root and replaced it with the original joomla htaccess. no good

Help...

Thoughts/???

Thanks,
Bob

Just to add, I got a recovery link to sign in, click it and back to the home page again.

Watch what happens
jobs610.com/administrator

Not my server, all other sites working just fine.

One more think. Every time I try to go to administrator I get another notice that my IP is blocked

Thanks,
Bob

Bob,

It's the Secret URL Parameter that has you locked out. It changes the URL of the back end login screen.

First, disable Admin Tools using the instructions here. Look below the blue Tips box at the section "Using FTP to regain access to your site's administrator".

Now you can log in and unblock your IP address.

Lastly, go to Web Application Firewall, Configure WAF, on the first tab, there is a value in the field "Administrator secret URL parameter". You need to call the back end login screen in the format:
jobs610.com/administrator/index.php?SECRET
Where SECRET is the value of the field. To disable this feature, just leave the field blank.

Hi Dale,

Thanks, that fixed almost everything. The only issue now is when I access the template using Helex I am blocked there, see attached.

I can do everything else except what you see in the picture

Thanks as always,
Bob

Bob,

Go into .htaccess Maker and add your template folder to the field "Allow direct access, except .php files, to these directories". So on a new line put:
template/Your_Template_Name
Regenerate your .htaccess file and test.

This may not work. It may be a php file that's being called and blocked. In that case we will need to move the template exemption to "Allow direct access, including .php files, to these directories".

Hi again,

Thanks, I will give it a try.

One more question. How can I add superusers to the system now that admin tools are running?

Thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob,

Go to Web Application Firewall, Configure WAF, on the Hardening Options tab, set "Disable editing backend users' properties" to No. That will allow you to change the users' properties. When it is on, this option prevents users from increasing their access rights in the back end.
