EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:This is a failure to update Akeeba itself! Presently I am using Joomla! 2.5.24 and intend to go to 2.5.28 prior to switching to 3.x I have Akeeba 4.0.5 and I have tried to update the to 4.1.2. But it gives me
"-1 - An error has occurred.
JLIB_FILESYSTEM_ERROR_COPY_FAILED
Return to Control Panel"

I have downloaded 'com_akeeba-4.1.2-pro.zip' multiple times. I have tried both Install and upload from Extension manager, also by Update. I have tried both the standard installer and the Akeeba advanced one.
For the record I have been using Akeeba for years, and it has never given me a problem. Am I in a 'cache 22' where 4.1.2 does not like Joomla! 2.5.24?

Have taken backup with 4.0.5 but I always prefer the most recent versions.

Please advise
Colin

Akeeba Backup 4.1.2 is compatible with Joomla! 2.5. Your issue has actually nothing to do with our software, it's an issue with Joomla! itself. All we can do is point you to https://www.akeebabackup.com/documentation/troubleshooter/abinstallation.html where we have compiled the most common issues regarding Joomla! extension installation/update. Please note that installing and updating our component is handled by Joomla! itself. None of our code is involved and that's the reason we can only provide very limited support about it. FWIW, the most common problem resulting in the error message you mention is the need to enable the FTP layer in your site's Global Configuration.
