Description of my issue:

I can not update to the latest Akeeba backup. I get a message that my php version is too old, but it is not too old.

This is not a backup problem, but since you're asking for a log, I'm attaching the most recent one I can find.

The log was actually helpful. It shows you are running PHP 5.3.28. What makes you think you are running 5.4.28?

When you're not running the PHP version that you think you are, the first place to look is in the .htaccess file. When the PHP version is forced there it is usually done with an AddHandler command. If you see one, put a # at the beginning of the line to make it a comment. That doesn't destroy anything in case something else breaks.

I find no AddHandler in htaccess.

I think I'm running 5.4.28 because that's what cpanel tells me I'm running. Am I missing something?

dlb
Akeeba Backup is asking PHP what version it is. PHP is reporting 5.3.28.

It is possible for the web site and cPanel to use different versions of PHP. The AddHandler command is just one way to change it, you can also do it through a php.ini file or user.ini file. You may have to check with your host to determine what version they expect and what is changing it. That is something I can't do.
