EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

Here's the error message we get:

****
Warnings

Upload cannot proceed. Amazon S3 returned an error message: 0 ::
Akeeba\Engine\Postproc\Connector\S3v4\Connector::uploadMultipart(): [55] SSL write: error -5961 Debug info:
Failed to process file /home/creat/public_html/administrator/components/com_akeeba/backup/creat.creathost.com-rhea-20160104-121826.jpa
Post-processing interrupted -- no more files will be transferred
*****

The log file indicates that multipart upload to S3 starts successfully, but then fails after a few chunks are transferred.

We have verified that the root certs are updated on the server, and additionally the root certificate file within the akeeba installation appears to be working properly, and seems to contain the proper Baltimore root cert.

We had one successful backup 1/3 after trying for hours, but none before or since. Also, if we try the button "transfer archive (amazon S3)", it appears to work, but sends no file or at most, only one of the archive, and does not display any errors.

We have numerous instances of Akeeba 4.5.1 backing up to S3 with total success. We have been very pleased with Akeeba for years. We have just moved this site, www.creat.com, to a new server with the same host as previous, with the same configuration private server.

Sorry to trouble you, but we've spent h ours and can't figure it out.

Thank you for great software we rely on.

Hello Todd,

could you please try again disabling the option Use SSL?

Looking at your log, you are using a very large part size.
Please set it to something smaller (10Mb or 5Mb); moreover, to be sure, please disable the multipart upload inside the post-processing engine options. That should do the trick.

Hi, Davide:

Thank you for your quick reply.

Did something change in 4.5.1 necessitating smaller chunks? We've used 2GB parts for the past couple years and find it much easier to manage. It worked fine on this site until moved to a new server that is the same as previous. We have other sites working well configured the same way, so we do not understand.

But we'll give it a try...

Thank you,

Todd

Most likely your backup archive grew larger and larger and then it doesn't fit the timeout limit of your host, or your hosting applied new rules to the usage of outgoing connections.
There could be several things affecting the backup upload process, that's why we always recommend using parts or 10-20Mb of size.

Hi, David:

We've overcome the problem for now by selecting the "Disable Multipart Uploads" option. All other settings including 1 GB part size and SSL are working fine.

The error reported...

Upload cannot proceed. Amazon S3 returned an error message: 0 ::
Akeeba\Engine\Postproc\Connector\S3v4\Connector::uploadMultipart(): [55] SSL write: error -5961 Debug info:
Failed to process file /home/creat/public_html/administrator/components/com_akeeba/backup/creat.creathost.com-rhea-20160104-121826.jpa
Post-processing interrupted -- no more files will be transferred

...was very misleading, as we were chasing SSL rather than timeout problems.

Thank you,

todd
