Description of my issue:

When cron job tries to run the backup i get email below. Why is there no connection astablished to my database? How can i resolve this?

Starting a new backup with the following parameters:
Profile ID 1
Description "Command-line backup"

Current memory usage: 983.39 Kb

Unsetting time limit restrictions.

Site paths determined by this script:
JPATH_BASE : /html
JPATH_ADMINISTRATOR : /html/administrator

what's your hosting provider? Are you using a Synology NAS, ie a site with a domain like dummy.synology.me?

Hello,

we just discovered an issue with CLI backups when your Joomla version is lower than 3.5.
A new version will be released very soon.

our hosting provider is https://www.mittwald.de/. Should i contact them regarding some issues you can recommend to me?

Yes we are using Joomla Version Joomla! 3.4.5.

There's no need to contact your host, I identified the issue and I already developed a fix.
A new version should be deployed very soon, however if you are in hurry you can download the latest dev release and install it.
Please note that dev release are quite unstable and not fully tested, so you could incur in bugs
