I read in another post:

"You can disable the "System - Backup on update" plugin to disable the automatic backup before the update."

I do not have such a plugin. How can I disable tha auto backup?

Joomla update 3.6.0 to 3.6.1 has a bug. It renders the current security token invalid. Akeeba somehow kicks in before that happens so the Joomla Update never gos through.

It has to be there, that is the code that triggers the backup.

Your other option is to upgrade to Akeeba Backup 5.1.4, released this morning, which contains a fix for the plugin.

Thanks. Found the plugin, it was not listed when I searched for Akeeba. But with J 3.6.2 the actual problem is gone anway.
