Description of my issue: We are configured to transfer files directly to Amazon S3 after backup, but the transfers are not happening and the files are remaining on our server. This problem started about a week ago and continues to this day after much playing around with settings and such. The only co-relatable event is out recent upgrade to php version 5.6.26.

Hello,

looking at your log file, the error reported says: The difference between the request time and the current time is too large.. This means that your server clock is not updated. Please ask your host to take a look at it.

Moreover, you are trying to upload more than 1 Gb in one shot. This usually results in a timeout error since you can't upload such a large archive in one shot. Please apply a part size of maximum 100Mb and then try again, lowering it if you get upload failures.

Thanks Davide,

- we'll take a look at the clock issue.

Please apply a part size of maximum 100Mb and then try again, lowering it if you get upload failures.
- In another ticket (#26221), you advised to disable multi-part uploads, aren't these two recommendations adverse to each other, or is part size unrelated to multi-part uploads?

Dale

These are two different things:
  • Multipart Akeeba Backup will create several files of X Mb each, then it will upload them by reading the whole contents and send them to Amazon AWS
  • Chunked upload Each archive part is split in small chunks on the fly (about 5 Mb) while performing the upload. This allows you to have "resume points": if the upload fails we can restart from the last uploaded chunk.
    This is pretty useful, however sometimes you could get issues.
    FYI, in Amazon post processing engine this is called Multipart uploads (do know why)

So, to recap: in Amazon post processing engine check the option "Disable multipart uploads", then in the Archiver engine set the part size to 100Mb. That should do the trick.

Update on the clock issue from our sysadmin:

========================================================
Nothing wrong with the clock.

root@host3 [4770 19:55:55 ~]# date
Mon Oct 3 19:55:57 CDT 2016

Its 7:55pm here, same as your server shows.
========================================================

Please see attached, I don't see a 100Mb option under Part Size for Split Archives. Is the 99.98 option correct? Or do we need to customize it?

Thanks, SOHO Prospecting Team

Please select "Custom" and manually type in 99. Davide found a bug last week that can cause errors in very rare circumstances when there is a decimal number in that field, you should only use whole numbers until the next update.
