Description of my issue:
I have a question about GoDaddy and Cron Jobs. In your documentation, you mentioned people having success in setting it up. In the support forum, people say it doesn't work but these posts are from 2011.

Has anyone had success recently setting up a Cron Job on GoDaddy? I have tried the configurations in the documentation and couldn't get it to work.

Any tips or suggestions would be great:)

Thanks, Chuck

Chuck,

I'm in tech support, nobody calls me when things work. :-) I have not heard much out of GoDaddy users lately, 2011 was a LONG time ago.

What didn't work about your CRON job? Did it not start, the backup didn't complete, etc.? The "php5" part of that command line jumps out at me. We're calling a fixed version, if it is 5.3, for example, it won't work any more and we have to get a new path from GoDaddy.

Hello,

That's right the Cron Job didn't start. I just used what was in your documentation...
/usr/local/php5/bin/php "$HOME/html/cli/akeeba-altbackup.php"

I have had success with Host Monster with the following
usr/php/54/usr/bin/php /home5/website_name/public_html/cli/akeeba-backup.php

I don't know much about Cron Jobs so I was hoping someone would share their success.

I totally understand not a getting info on when things work :)

Thanks again!

If the job doesn't start the two things that we need to look at are the PHP version that is being called and that $HOME variable.

Please ask GoDaddy support what path should be used to call PHP-CLI. We need the command line version of PHP, not PHP-CGI/FCGI. There is a difference, they are two different executables, one for the web and the other for command line. Support tends to have a hard time with that. That is my guess on what is going awry.
