Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? No
Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes, pp58-61
Joomla! version: 1.5.25
PHP version: 5.2.17
MySQL version: 5.1.56-log
Host: Simply Hosting
Akeeba Backup version: 3.3.13 Pro

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:
I am unable to find the screen described in the documentation to define an additional database. The only possibility I can think of is that I have not rerun the Configuration Wizard since updating from the Free to the Pro version of Backup (not wanting to lose the existing configuration). I have attached a couple of screen shots of what I understand are the relevant screens.

Thanks - David

I think this is related to this documentation page. Please install the package again (without uninstalling your existing copy of Akeeba Backup).

Hi Nicholas,

thanks for the reply.

I have not been able to complete and test your suggested fix as when I go to Extension Manager | Install/Uninstall, I receive the following error message:
"500 - An error has occurred. Unknown controller installer"

I have been in contact with my server people but they are unable to identify the issue. Interestingly there is no such problem on the test site on the same server created from a back up of the live site a month or so ago.

Two of the main changes done to the live site since the last time I successfully used the Install page were to update Akeeba Backup to 3.3.13 Pro and Admin Tools to 2.2.a3 Pro. I am not sure which I installed last. I did edit some of the configuration/options for Backup but have not changed anything from the Admin Tools install defaults at this stage.

So some questions for you:

1. Have you heard of any such 500 errors being triggered by updates of these two Akeeba extensions?
2. Is there any way of completing your second install without using the Install/Uninstall page (ie FTP etc)?
3. Is there any way of reversing the upgrades without using the Install/Uninstall page?
4. Any other ideas?

I do have a backup (of course) but would prefer not to lose the site changes made over the past week or so if this is avoidable.

A possible reason I guess might be the setting that I expect I checked to create System Restore Points with the new version of Backup - I think it asked this on opening up the extension. Could this "interfere" with the normal opening of the Joomla Install/Uninstall page? If so is there a way to disable this? I don't see any way in the Backup Control Panel I currently have (which may be half-way between versions).

Please disable the "System - System Restore Points" plugin. This plugin intercepts access to Joomla!'s extensions manager in order to provide the System Restore Points feature. However, if Akeeba Backup's installation is broken it will cause the aforementioned error. Disabling the plugin will solve this problem. After doing that you can install Akeeba Backup again, on top of your existing installation, fixing this issue permanently.

Yes that helped. I have now installed Backup Pro a second time and can now see the Multiple Database icons - and the System Restore plugin is no longer causing 500 errors.

I will get back to the multiple database setup in the near future.

I've observed that the Multiple Database backup may not work in Akeeba Backup 3.3.13. If you get backup errors when you enable that feature, please try installing the latest dev release.
