Description of my issue:

After updating to the latest version of Akeeba Backup (3.11.2), its backend menu item disappeared.
When I go to Components, there is no longer a link to Akeeba Backup. Admin Tools and all the other are stil there though.

Also I found out, that many of the items in backend menu are not working at all. For example Articles -> Articles does nothing when clicked. Also when I click on "System" and choose any of the item below, whole "system" menu item dissapears until the new page is loaded.

None of the above happend before updating Akeeba Backup.

This is a known Joomla! bug that dates back to the Joomla! 1.6 betas. Unfortunately our proposed fix was never implemented in Joomla!. There is, however, a simple workaround. Please download Akeeba Backup 3.11.2 and install it on your site, without removing your existing version. The menu item will now appear again.
