EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

My site is www.guru99.com

I want to delete the entire site and restore new site from fresh1.guru99.com

For this I am using Akeeba Backup with Angie

All is fine during retore

But the issue my site has good traffic

The restore will take approx 20 minutes

During this time any user that access guru99 will see https://www.screencast.com/t/CeYtnlRZ

This is not desirable at the user could potentially harm the restore process.

What can be done?

Hello,

yes, there's an option for that in Kickstart. Please take a look at here and search for "Stealth mode". Basically everyone without your IP will be redirected to a temporary page.

Hi,

I am using akeeba with joomla for long and very comfortable with Angie restore

I will have a huge learning curve with Kickstart

I did some experimentation and found that during restore akeeba adds some code to index.php to redirect to the installation folder.

Can this redirection be avoided?

I would directly go to guru99.com/installation folder users see garbled data for some time and everyone is happy

Using Kickstart is the only available option. By the way, Kickstart will only extract the archive on your remote server, then ANGIE kicks in and the restoration starts.
For your information, the redirection is performed by Joomla core: if the installation folder exists, a redirect is automatically issued.

Thanks for the help

How about I rename the installation folder to say "myfolder"

in this way joomla does not see installation and redirect while I can access myfolder and proceed with installation?

No, this is the intended behavior.
If you want to block access to visitors, you have to use Kickstart stealth mode.
