Hello, I upgraded my site to J3.7.0 -- at the same time I updated loads of extensions, including Akeeba Backup. When I then went to Akeeba to peform a backup, the screen is showing all of the labels with code, as per the attached screenshot. I can still take a backup but would like to fix this to normal display of the component. Are you able to help? Thankyou.

Those are the actual internal labels, without the language translations. If you are using English as your back end language, you have a bad update of Akeeba Backup and we just need to do it again. If you're using another language, the problem is a little more complex, see the news article here for the bad news: https://www.akeebabackup.com/home/news/1673-discontinuing-%E2%80%9Cofficial%E2%80%9D-translations-for-akeeba-software.html.

But English is a pretty good guess, so we'll go with that. Please download 5.3.4 from our Downloads page and install it twice, back to back, without doing anything else in between. Do not uninstall, that will cause you to lose all your settings and logs and possibly your stored backup archives. This install twice trick usually works around a glitch in the Joomla! installer where it fails to copy all of the files during an install or upgrade.
