Since 27/06/2017 I got some notifications about front-end backup feature, like :
"Akeeba Backup has completed backing up your site using the front-end backup feature. You may visit the site's administrator section to download the backup."

But the front-end backup is disable for all sites where that notification comes from.

All backups are made from a cron job and I don't understand why I get theses notifications.

Anyone to help, fix or explain ?

Tia,

Dol.

The front end backup feature can't run when it is disabled in the Options screens. And it has to be triggered by a CRON job or similar external trigger. Do you see the backups in the Manage Backups screen for that site?

Sometimes we see clone sites that are set up for development or testing that send notices. It looks like the notice is coming from the live site, since the name is the same. That is a long shot because it would still require a CRON job to trigger it.

Hi Dale,

Thank you for your reply.

In the manage Backup screen there are the cron backups only.

So, why I got this king of notification ?
I have checked my emails and I never had these messages before the 27/06/05.

It can't coming from a "clone site" because :
1- I have no clone
2 - the email address is not public and created/used only to get specific messages

I have read the journal of the last backup (a cron job) and saw these lines :
DEBUG |170608 06:02:10|-- Fetching mailer object
DEBUG |170608 06:02:10|-- Joomla!'s mailer is using mail mail method.
DEBUG |170608 06:02:10|-- Creating email message
DEBUG |170608 06:02:10|-- Sending message
DEBUG |170608 06:02:10|-- Email sent

The email has been received at the same time and I had received another with the resume process of the cron

Maybe important : the notification is only for 3 domains, each one hosted by different servers... but there are other domains with the same configuration of akeeba on these servers

A CRON job could trigger either a front end or command line backup. The format of the CRON command would be different.

Have these site moved recently? If an old site was still triggering backups, that would make sense.

There used to be a Lazy Backup plugin that would do backups. It didn't work consistently and was discontinued long ago. But the plugin itself may still be on your system If it is there, please make sure it is disabled.
