There are older, no longer supported versions of Akeeba Backup for obsolete versions of Joomla!. You can find the one that works with your PHP and Joomla! version in our Compatibility page.

As a side note, you might observe that the release date for some of the no longer supported 4.7.x versions is as recent as May 2017. These are still unsupported versions. We simply update the backup engine in those old versions about twice a year to fix known issues with the backup engine only (we won't deal with UI issues at all). We only recommend using these old versions for backing up your site before upgrading it to a modern version of Joomla!.
