Hi,

I've got an issue with updating one of my sites where the Joomla! update manager doesn't seem to work when updating Akeeba Backup for Joomla!.
Everytime a new update is presented and I try to update Akeeba Backup it won't update.

Installing the (new version) of the component displays a popup that simply says: "error". Installing a second time succeeds eventually in getting the new version onto the site.

I believe I can remember seeing somewhere this might be related to the framework-on-framework, but I cannot find the ticket anymore.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Akeeba Backup entirely. Note that Admin Tools is also installed onto the site.

What might cause this kind of behaviour?

The FOF30 library is a possibility. If it was partially updated it causes all sorts of problems. It shouldn't cause problems in the Joomla! Updater though. Since it is used by all Akeeba products, uninstalling one product would not uninstall the library. That's what makes it so tricky to fix. Let's start with a manual repair of the library and see if that fixes the problem.
  • Download a copy of one of our components, e.g. Akeeba Backup.
  • Extract it.
  • Find the lib_fof30.zip file.
  • Extract it.
  • Rename the extracted folder fof to fof30.
  • Upload the fof30 folder into your site's libraries folder so now you have a libraries/fof30 folder.
