EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:
Backup fails to initialize with this new version of akeeba backup

That is not a problem that has been reports so far.
  1. Clear your browser cache. Old code stuck in the cache usually results in visual problems, but an operational problem is not impossible.
  2. Please download Akeeba Backup if you don't have a copy on hand and install it twice, back to back, without doing anything in between. Do not uninstall. That will cause you to lose your settings and possibly your stored archive files.

Problem is FireFox. Went well in IE.

The problem is most likely with a browser extension, I use Firefox without problems. I'm glad you got it working, have a good weekend!
