Please look at the bottom of this page (under Support Policy Summary) for our support policy summary, containing important information regarding our working hours and our support policy. Thank you!

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:
I just installed Akeeba Backup for Joomla! 6.0.0 and ran into some errors. Please see attached.

Thanks,
John

John,

At the moment FEF is compatible with Joomla 3.6.0 and later.

We will lower the requirements in the next version, but for the moment your only option is to upgrade Joomla.

I’m running Joomla! 3.8.5. This is the latest version. Your chart is showing that it should work.

I’m confused.

John,

I'm sorry, there IS a bug for older versions of Joomla. You just happened to get the same error. Please download Akeeba Backup from our Downloads page if you haven't already and install it twice, back to back, without doing anything in between. This trick usually works around a bug in the Joomla installer where if fails to copy all of the files during an installation or upgrade. Do not uninstall, that will cause you to lose all your settings and possibly your stored backup archives.

Thanks for the tip, but it did not work. I can pull my backups from the server. I have full access to those. Would uninstalling and reinstalling be the last option?

Well it certainly isn't being very cooperative. It can be tricky to fix the FOF installation because it is used by multiple Akeeba products. The installer detects that the current version is already installed, so it doesn't reinstall. Let's just beat it into submission:
  • Download a copy of one of our components, e.g. Akeeba Backup.
  • Extract it.
  • Find the lib_fof30.zip file.
  • Extract it.
  • Rename the extracted folder fof to fof30.
  • Upload the fof30 folder into your site's libraries folder so now you have a libraries/fof30 folder.

Note that there are two fof folders in /libraries, fof and fof30. The Akeeba folder is fof30, that's the one we want to repair. Don't touch the fof folder, that's a core Joomla library.
