After "Delete files" of a backup with "Manage Backups" at the backend of Joomla I still see the files with my FTP-Program in the backup-directory. Do I really have to delete them manually?

Hello,

did you get any warning while clicking the button Delete files?
Which files are still there? The backup files (with extension .jpa, .jps, .zip, .j01, .z01) or the log files (.log)?

In case of the backup files, I suspect your server has a permission issue, preventing your Joomla installation to delete files. In this case you should use the FTP Compatibility Layer that you can find inside Joomla Global Configuration. Then please try to take another backup and then delete only the files, are they really gone?

Strange ... about 2 hours have passed ... now the files are no longer visible on the server, although I did not do anything after my problem message.
It seems like the deletion takes some time on the server.
