Hi

My site theprivategpclinic.co.uk has been suspended by my hosting company because they say it's using too many of their resources. We had a similar issue with a recent site that I raised with you called parkhouse-resthome.co.uk but in that case the site was quite a bit older and it seemed to be tied to out of date versions and had lots of very large backups in it. This one doesn't have lots of very large back ups - only three, each of around 92MB so nothing major and I don't therefore know why the account has been suspended. I have raised a ticket with them for more detail but in the meantime I thought I should share with you what I'm seeing in the backup directory as it looks a bit strange - see screenshot.

Here's the link to the log file https://www.dropbox.com/s/ge71qki2jiqckf4/akeeba.cli.id55.log?dl=0

Something doesn't appear quite right. Do you think it's tied to having older versions or something else?

Your asistance is very much appreciated.

Kind Regards

Jamie

Jamie,

The log files are not required to restore a backup. They are only necessary when trying to diagnose a problem with your backup, and more rarely, with a restore. You can delete them. The downside is that if there is a problem, you'll need to take a new backup to get the log file and that delays support for a little bit.

I suspect that the problem is the definition of "resources". You're thinking it means disk space, I'm thinking it means CPU cycles or MySQL reads and writes during the backup process itself. We do need to get clarification from the host about exactly what they want us to fix.

We can slow the backup down so that it uses the same resources over a longer period of time. This frequently gets us by the host imposed limits. Please go to your Akeeba Backup Configuration page and try setting:
Minimum execution time: 1 seconds
Maximum execution time: 20 second
Execution time bias: 75%

If we still have a problem, you can slow it down more:
Minimum execution time: 5 seconds
Maximum execution time: 1 second
Execution time bias: 50%
