Hi, it seems that I don't receive email notifications for any site that I backup via the queue, from Watchful.li

Usually I would go to watchful, add a bunch of sites to be backed up (via the queue, rather than opening the backup screen and doing the backup immediately), and then go and do other work until I receive the emails saying that the sites were successfully backed up.

The email notification settings haven't been changed for these sites, they always used to work, and now they don't. Is there something else that has changed with Akeeba?

If I do the backup immediately via Watchful using the backup screen on a per-site basis, I do receive the email notification, it is just when I add it to the Watchful queue that the success email isn't received.

I've checked the list of backups for each of the sites, and they are listed which I assume means they completed successfully. They don't have FAILED next to them, and are sitting in Amazon S3, so they must have completed ok.

Just wondering if you might know what is causing this?

From Akeeba Backup's point of view there is no difference on how you run backups from Watchful.li or even if you use Watchful.li at all. All of these are backups taken with the remote JSON API as you can see in the Manage Backups page.

The rules for sending emails are rather simplistic. All of the following conditions must be met:
  • In the Options, Front-end backup you need to set "Email on backup completion" to Yes.
  • The backup must NOT come from the "backend" origin, i.e. it's not taken by the site's backend.
  • The backup must be completed successfully.

The email is then sent through Joomla's Mail API.

So either the backup is not complete or you have not enabled the "Email on backup completion" setting. The latter is straightforward to check. The former can be determined by looking at the log file. Is there a message that the backup is finished towards the end of the log?
