EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

I have been using XAMPP as a development server on my Windows laptop, so I could test changes in private. I had a number of development sites in this xampp installation, but there didn't seem to be any way of upgrading xampp without losing those development sites. This one has pretty old versions of PHP etc.

But it would seem that Akeeba Backup could let me back up the dev sites, delete the old xampp, install a new xampp with newer PHP, and the use kickstart to reinstall those dev sites.

Is there some problem I don't foresee ?

Make sure you test your backups before you delete everything.

Keep several copies of your backups, ideally having a spare copy on a USB key.

If you are paranoid about your data you could also take a ZIP of your XAMPP root folder and use phpMyAdmin to dump all databases.

If you have databases or folders outside those you use with your Joomla sites remember to back them up manually.

Besides that I don't see any problems.
