Description of my issue:

Hi
I have 23 websites running Akeeba Backup, and I have never had this problem before. I quickly built a Joomla site today, using the latest versions of everything possible, and when I tested the front-end backup, I got an "Error 403 Access Denied."
I checked my emailed logs of the other websites and saw that six others also gave these errors since March 1, 2020. Up until February 1, 2020, all my backups worked perfectly. The strange thing is that all my websites are running on the latest versions of Joomla and Akeeba. Also, the versions of the templates and page builder software are also kept up to date.
I stepped the PHP version up from 7.2 to 7.3 to 7.4, but the problem prevailed.
The template is a Helix Ultimate from JoomShaper.
Any ideas?
Regards,
J. Francois Barnard

There was a recent change that moved the front end backup out of the Core version and into the Pro version. You have a Pro subscription that you can use on all of your sites. Please double check that you actually have the Pro version installed instead of the Core version. If you accidentally installed Core, your problem makes perfect sense.

You need to enable the front end backup and set your secret work in the Options section of Akeeba Backup. That sounds a little too obvious for someone who has been successfully using it.

Hi Dale
Thank you for your reply. Yes, that was exactly it. For the life of me, I did not recall having subscribed to PRO, but when I looked into my Akeeba folder, I found the Download key. Is there a limit on the number of sites I can install PRO to?
Akeeba PRO is now running on seven sites and all are working.

Your subscription to Akeeba Backup includes both tech support and the licence to the Pro version. You can install the Pro version on an unlimited number of sites. If you are installing software on client sites, you might want to consider setting up separate Download IDs for each site. That way, if the client leaves you, you can disable the add on ID and they won't be able to continue to update their software on your license. That is not a requirement, merely an option. It is completely up to you.
