Please look at the bottom of this page (under Support Policy Summary) for our support policy summary, containing important information regarding our working hours and our support policy. Thank you!

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:
I am receiving emails from my site containing a notification that a new version - 7.1.4 - of Akeeba Backup is available. I updated to 7.1.4 when I got the first notice around 22 May, yet the same notice is being resent every day or two. I don't believe I ever requested these reminders, and can see no obvious way to turn them off. I appreciate the initial reminder, but not those that arrive after I have updated my site.

I wonder if this might be related to my earlier upgrade to your Pro version to maintain the ability to do automatic, timed backups.

Thank you.

I can't open .eml attachments but I know what you're talking about since we never send emails about new versions and do not have a mailing list. The email text tells you that the email is sent from your site and there's a plugin you should disable to make these emails stop. Have you already done this?

If you did unpublish the plugin, did you recently migrate your site between servers or did your host migrate your site to a new server? If this happened there's a "phantom" copy of your site on the old server. Every time it's accessed for whatever reason the email is sent out at most once a day. That would explain the non-periodical sending of the emails, too.

Thank you for your reply. I did find a plugin called "System - Akeeba Backup Update Check" which I have disabled just now. I will have to see if the notices stop. Interestingly, I have the Pro version installed on a couple of other sites I manage, and the core version on another, and this site, fearringtonfha.org, is the only one with the problem.

Will wait a day or two and see how it goes.

I hope you are safe and dealing with the pandemic OK.

Hi! Thank you, we are doing fine :)

The emails are sent if Joomla reports there's an update: like all Joomla extensions, Akeeba Backup doesn not use its own code to update itself, it relies on Joomla to do that. If there's an update reported by Joomla and your site is accessed an email will be sent, at most once a day, to all Super User accounts by that plugin.

So, yes, please wait a day or two and see if this persists.

Problem solved: I had failed to change the name of my site when I restored a backup onto my development site, so the reminder email was using the original site name as the site needing the update. However, I checked the email headers and saw that the email came from the development site. And sure enough, I had not updated the development site, as it's never backed-up.

So my error, and I'm sorry to have bothered you.
