Have I searched the forum before posting? y
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? y
Joomla! version: 173
PHP version: 5.2.17
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: 1and1
Akeeba Backup version: 3.3.10

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue: The other day I started getting upload failed messages. I thought it was a password issue, but have reset password in dropbox & in config file (last backup I did). And still fails.

Dropbox folder is empty.

Any ideas Nicholas?

Given that you get an immediate failure, it looks like your host is blocking access to dropbox.com over ports 80 and 443. Maybe your host updated something to their firewall?

It couldn't be an admin tools configuration could it? I recently went to pro version of that so could have added a setting without realising

No, Admin Tools only deals with incoming data. It can not do anything to tamper with outgoing data, like what is going on when you are trying to upload files to DropBox.

hello,
I am getting the same error.
my site is on justhost.com shared servers.
I contacted the through live chat and asked them about ports 80 and 443 but the told me that they don't think that those ports are closed.

The error message you get in the log file means that Akeeba Backup tried three times to connect to drobbox.com and all three of them failed. This can mean one of the following:
- Communication to DropBox.com's port 443 is blocked by the server firewall
- Your host does not have SSL support built into PHP's cURL module (this is actually the most usual case)
