Description of my issue:

I try to update my sites with the latest version of Akeeba Backup pro, but I keep getting this same message:

Downloading the update package failed. Make sure that your temp-directory is writable or that you have enabled Joomla!'s FTP options in your site's Global Configuration.

I have enabled the FTP, and the temp directory, but I still wasn't able to update.

Any help would be appreciated (or article links) as the one I found did not have a step-by-step solution.

Hi,

You can always try the alternative update method, which means that you will simply be installing the ZIP package of 3.3.11 on top of the existing release. If that fails, take a look at our installation troubleshooting instructions. They are step by step and very thorough.
