Hi,

Could you kindly help me figure out how to get a cron job going? I'm on Dreamhost for now and my public html path looks like this: "/home/bartekl/www.globalmindenglish.com/". I'm lost as to where the backup.php file is supposed to be. The documentation here says it should be in a folder/path as follows: .../httpdocs/cli/backup.php. There is no such folder as 'httpdocs' or 'cli' anywhere within my accessible folder structure as far as I can see. I'm sure this is just my own ignorance but I would really appreciate your help. I've been trying to get this working for ages. Here is what I've been using: /home/bartekl/www.globalmindenglish.com/httpdocs/cli/backup.php --profile=1 --description="My automated backup" --override="engine.postproc.s3.accesskey= ***" --override="engine.postproc.s3.secretkey=***" .

Also, I have a secret word set within Akeeba panel. Is the second '--override' where I put that? I don't seem to have a secretkey with my S3 but I do have an accesskey.

If I need to ask dreamhost, then what exactly should I be asking them--the path to backup.php? Or is that something from Akeeba?

Thank you
B

Most of your confusion is a documentation issue. Either you are looking at the Joomla! documentation or some Joomla! paths have worked their way into the WordPress documentation.

If your S3 passwords are set up in Profile #1, you do not have to pass them as an override on the CRON command line, they will be picked up from the profile information. You are better off putting the access information in the profile, the profile information is encrypted, the CRON info is eye readable to anyone who can look at the CRON setup.

Regarding the path, in the Advanced Options section on the main screen, select Schedule Automatic Backups. The path you need to call for your site is near the top in red text. Note that you need to replace the beginning "/path/to/php". You need the path to PHP-CLI there, we can't detect that in the program.

The secret key that you set up is for a front end backup, not a cli backup. You do not use that with cli.

I appreciate the response. I got it working with that info, although my backups don't seem to be making it to Amazon...but that includes backups initiated from within Akeeba in WP Admin. My output directory for the profile says that the output is '/home/bartekl/www.globalmindenglish.com/wp-content/plugins/akeebabackupwp/app/backups'. I don't see any S3 options anymore. What happened to my configuration? I'm sure it's just me missing something and I'm sorry about that. Thanks for your patience. My version says it's Akeeba Backup for WordPress Core 1.9.2 and there's a donate via PayPal button that never used to be there. Has this reverted to some free version or something? All my previous profiles are there, including one click backup buttons. I had seperate profiles for S3, dropbox, and Google Drive doing different things.

Cheers,
B

That is exactly the problem, you have the free or Core version installed and all of the post processing capability is only in the Pro version.

You can download the Pro version from our website, extract it locally, and upload the files via FTP to the /wp-content/plugins/akeebabackupwp folder, overwriting the ones that are there. That will get your Pro version back.

I just need to see a failed backup with the Pro version, or a failed upload, to see what might be going on with S3.
