Cannot make backup of wordPress site after updating to Akeeba PRO WordPress 2.1.1. Installing old version works fine. Is there a fix, or is this more of a server compatibility issue?

When error posted "Backup Halted and Will Resume Automatically", I let it resume on its own until it came up with the error to Analyse Log File. I clicked on View Log, and it was blank, so I didn't bother attaching it.

Hosting has plenty of space to process backup. I've tried processing to Google Drive, DropBox, and even on the server itself: still error message.

Uninstalled/reinstalled PRO version
AJAX Loading Error
HTTP Status: 500 (Internal Server Error)

Configuration:

JPA (also tried ZIP)
Dereference symlinks (checked)
Part size for split archives Custom 2047.88 (I've also tried 10MB and 20MB--same result)
Chunk size for large files processing: 1.00
Big file threshold 1.00

No post-processing

In Configuration, please set the Log level to "All information and debug" and try your backup again. The log should contain a lot more detail and will give us a better idea of what is going on.
