I'm attempting to migrate a Wordpress site to a new webhost. Everything goes smoothly until I need to do the cleanup. When I click on the Cleanup button, nothing happens. If I simply remove the kickstart.php file, I get lots of errors. How do I complete this migration?

The cleanup step has three main tasks:
  • Delete the kickstart.php file
  • Delete the backup archive that you have just restored from
  • Delete the /installation folder
There is no real visual feedback that the cleanup step is dong what it's supposed to do, so it is probably working. What sort of post restore errors are you getting?

I removed all three of those elements, and when I navigate to http://[websiteurl]/index.php, the browser then tries to download the index.php file. It also redirects to http://[websiteurl]/installation/index.php?view=finalise

There are no errors.

I've attempted this twice.

Thanks so much for responding, but I figured it out. There were files and htaccess rules that came over from the old installation. I removed those and I'm good to go.

I'm glad you got it working!
